Victoria Island
La Taverna
A little taste of Europe in the heart of Lagos: rustic Mediterranean dining tucked away in Victoria Island.

Tucked away on Balarabe Musa Crescent in Victoria Island, La Taverna feels like a little escape from the usual Lagos dining scene. It's known for its blend of Chilean, Spanish, Mediterranean and Italian influences, with pizza, pasta, meat and seafood making up much of the menu.
La Taverna doesn't have that ultra-modern, polished Lagos restaurant look, and honestly, that's part of its charm. The space leans into a rustic Mediterranean-meets-European tavern aesthetic: warm wooden furniture, patterned tiles, hanging lanterns, shelves full of wine bottles and greenery woven throughout.
The indoor dining room is particularly cosy, with white tablecloths, dark wooden chairs, warm pendant lights and terracotta flooring giving it an old-world character. Then there's the outdoor courtyard: deep red walls, woven chairs, wooden tables and trees overhead make it feel tucked away from the city, the kind of spot where you sit for dinner and lose a few hours.

🍽️ What we ordered
The Globetrot favourite was the Beef Shank, served with creamy mashed potatoes, rich gravy and roasted vegetables: tender, comforting and the dish we'd go back for. The pizza was generously loaded with a beautifully charred crust, a great option to share.

Globetrot & Gather says
What stood out wasn't one thing, it's the combination of food, character and atmosphere. There are little details everywhere, from the wine shelves and patterned tiles to the lanterns and courtyard greenery. If you want somewhere in Victoria Island for a relaxed dinner, a catch-up, a date, or simply somewhere with character, La Taverna is one to put on your list. And if you go, order the Beef Shank, that's our Globetrot favourite.
